Oregon Vesper Sparrow survey
Meeting at Buck Prairie 2 parking area (16 miles up Indian Memorial Road) 7:30am
Join Vesper Meadow Education Program Director Jeanine Moy and the Klamath Bird Observatory's Sarah Rockwell for an exploration of the newly acquired portion of the Vesper Meadow Restoration Preserve, a mix of upland wet meadows, conifer forests, and open shrub-steppe hillslopes in the heart of the Cascade-Siskiyou region. It is known habitat for the rare and imperiled Oregon Vesper Sparrow, but formal surveys have not yet been conducted. With your help, we will focus on locating, counting, and noting breeding behaviors of Vesper Sparrows to further the Vesper Meadow Restoration Preserve's ongoing research collaboration with the Klamath Bird Observatory. We are likely to also see a variety of other sparrows, warblers, raptors, woodpeckers, and possibly owls and sandhill cranes.
Email Jeanine@vespermeadow.org to RSVP, space is limited to 15 people.
