People-powered restoration with a view:
Join Vesper Meadow Land Steward Dylan Rodvik in the new meadow portion of the expanded Preserve for our first official work-day of care since it was protected June 2021. This 400 acre meadow and forest section of the land is just upstream of the original Vesper Meadow site and is a refuge for spectacular wildflowers and wildlife. Similar to most meadows in the Cascade-Siskiyou region, it has seen the impacts of decades of ranching, invasion of nonnative pasture grasses, and damage to the riparian / creek area.
Tearing down fences: This work party will work to clean up trash, wire, and other, remnant materials from previous ownership. This it the first step in a series of restoration activities, enhancing safety for elk and other wildlife, and for preparing for Tribal partnership activities later this summer.
Please bring: Water and snacks, sun protections, close-toed shoes, work cloths with long sleeves and pants (durable/ denim recommended), leather or other tough gloves. We will have some tools to share, but bring wire cutters, fencing tools, prybars if you have them!
RSVP: Please make sure to sign up below, we will provide meeting information and more details
