Class Description
This workshop will focus on three components:
Composition and Design
Arrangement of color and light
Importance of using a sketchbook
First, students will learn to demystify and simplify the organization of the composition into lines, space and shapes.
The second component will be about the organization of color, value and light. Class will cover basic color theory and light phenomenon and how to look for it. Students will determine front light vs back light effects and determine each student’s personal interests and strengths.
The third component is the use of the sketchbook as a point of pivot. Learn to use the sketchbook as a stand-in for what you can accomplished in a painting. Students will develop a better relationship with their sketch book for thinking through both plein air and studio paintings.
This workshop offers participants a deep and thoughtful experience that will help each one develop technical skills and personal style.
