Bird Watching and Nestbox Survey

BIRDHOUSE BASICS

Enjoy a casual morning walk and see how Vesper Meadows has assisted our cavity nesters by installing birdhouses throughout the property. We will discuss specifications and safety features to consider when buying or building a birdhouse. We will clean out a few birdhouses and examine the contents to gain some insight into the lives of the inhabitants. All are welcome.

Coffee will be served 8am - 8:30am, an we will begin our walk shortly after 8:30am. We will walk approximately 1.5 miles on fairly flat ground - both on and off-trail.

Join Habitat-Steward Volunteer Lee French and Director Jeanine Moy to engage in the science and stewardship of bird habitat. Participants can expect to see a variety of Sparrows and Swallows, Western bluebirds, Woodpeckers, raptors like Red-tailed hawk, Harriers, and Kestrels. There is always a possibility of Bald Eagle, Great blue heron, and Sandhill Crane sightings at Vesper Meadow!

Bring: Water and snacks, dress in layers, binoculars (we have a few extra to lend if needed)

Carpool information and any last minute details will be emailed to participants - please RSVP below.
