Protect Your Headwaters: a day of stewardship collaboration

It’s going to be a big collaboration for volunteer stewardship in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument!

ashland-volunteer-stewardship-monument-public-land

Join this community effort led by Vesper Meadow Education Program, Friends of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, Medford BLM, and The Nature Conservancy for a day of volunteer stewardship at headwaters of the Rogue River watershed. Help us to restore Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument fencing along a waterway at Buck Prairie 2 and protect water quality and the sensitive riparian habitat from free-range cattle.

We will work in small work teams to learn about regional conservation land management. Meet local land managers and new friends, and learn new skills! No prior experience needed.

Snacks and tools will be provided to volunteer stewards. Personal tools (wire cutters, fencing multi-tools, pliers) are welcome, make sure to label them.

Prepare:

  • Scope of work: easy, walking on flat but uneven ground, lifting of 10-30 pounds, standing and use of hands necessary

  • Wear: Long pants, long sleeves, work boots or study close-toed shoes, sun protection (hat and glasses)

  • Bring: Waterbottle, lunch, work gloves, (camera optional)
