Botanical Monitoring

Initial plant inventory:

Between mid June and August 2018, with the help of several local botanists, we cataloged over 230 species of grasses, flowers, shrubs, and trees at Vesper Meadow. Thanks to Stephanie Dayni, Wayne Rolle, and Kristi Mergenthaler.

2019 Baseline surveys:

Between May and July 2019 we will be conducting systematic surveys to look at the relative abundance of native meadow plants and invasive grasses. We will also continue to gather information to understand the biodiversity of plants in the meadow. Through point-intercept and belt transect surveys we will develop a better understanding of the current condition of the plant community before beginning restoration actions. Thanks to Wayne Rolle and John Villella.
