An amazing first year, made possible because of you!

Thank you to the hundreds of people who are making Vesper Meadow a community hub for restoration and education - their support, volunteering, expertise, partnership, and participation in our programs have gone a long way. In 2019 we:

  • launched education programming that involved over 500 people ages 4 - 94

  • engaged over 220 volunteers for 1000+ hours of stewardship and education programs

  • worked in partnership with two dozen other organizations, agencies, tribes, and learning institutions

  • provided research opportunities for 5 graduate student interns and 12 local field biologists

We are so excited to do it again next year!

Restoration Stewardship Program for K-12 Youth
Our equation for the future: latest developments in restoration science + hands on problem solving and skills training + integrated art and cultural knowledge = empowering youth with skills to take action for climate change. We are excited to pilot our Restoration Stewardship Learning Model with low-income schools around southwest Oregon and for our new partnership with the K-8th Talent Outdoor School Program.

Southern Oregon Pollinator Research and Restoration
To study local biodiversity and endangered species like the Mardon Skipper, we worked in partnership with the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument and the Xerces Society, to develop a community-powered survey of butterfly diversity this past year. This coming summer we will work with other local partners to implement native bee surveys and create native pollinator habitat demonstration sites.

Native Food Revival and Increasing Indigenous-led Programming
Native plant community restoration = Native cultural revival. We are resolute to work for decolonizing modern relationship with the land. In 2020 and beyond, we will support local indigenous communities through youth leadership development and other cultural needs determined by those communities.
